Mark E. Dykstra received his BA in English and Philosophy from Dalhousie University in 1984 where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. Following graduation, he joined the US Navy, doing 3 tours of the Persian Gulf including Operation Desert Storm in Iraq. He was awarded 2 Navy Achievement Medals and named “Sailor of the Year” at Naval Training Center San Diego in 1994.
Mr. Dykstra obtained his JD Cum Laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, where he was the managing Editor and a published member of the law review.
Mr. Dykstra is a Certified Legal Specialist with over 20 years of experience in workers’ compensation law. He started out handling applicant cases with Anthony J. DeLellis & Associates, and switched to the defense of employers 2 years later with the Law Offices of Steven D Hamor. He was with the defense firm of Heggeness and Sweet for 5 years, becoming managing partner of the firm’s Riverside office. Most recently, he was associated with Serembe, Bakke & Seaman.
Mr. Dykstra’s expertise and knowledge has enabled him to successfully defend claims involving complex workers’ compensation cases at the state appellate and supreme court levels. His trial skills have led to multiple “take nothing” decisions at the WCAB.
